Working Progress:
Corrosion protection cycle through
thermal thermoplastic coating powder spraying (flame spray).
Pre-treatment; pre-heating; application
of the thermal powder; cooling in the air. |
|
Application Advantages:
- It can be used on virtually all
kinds of materials: steel, metal, concrete, fibreglass, plastics,
wood, cardboard, anti-slip applications.
- It can apply several thermoplastic
coating powders: Thermoplastic coating powders PolyHotCote®,
Nylon (polyammide), Polypropylene, Other Polymer Alloys in general
(please contact Appletec/Epsi UK Limited for further information).
- Single coat application system:
direct application of the thermoplastic coating to the previously
pre-treated (recommended treatment: sand blasting) and pre-heated
substrate by means of the GLADIATOR gun and/or an additional torch.
- Non-toxic and environmentally
friendly: no solvents, no VOC's, no TIGC's, no plasticisers,
no halogens, no isocyanates and no heavy metals.
- Immediate use of the coated item
(no downtime).
- Easy Repair and Touch-Up of the
coating by simply remelting the powder on the surface to repair
or to increase the thickness.
- Coating life: much longer than
traditional coating systems, thus allowing huge savings on maintenance:
with the GLADIATOR
OmniCoater
it is possible to transfer the quality performance results of
corrosion control with the thermoplastic coating powders to corrosion
control applications on-site and on large structures.
- Application is
independent of weather conditions.

 |
Technical Features:
- Portable: sturdy
structure on wheels with carrying handle.
- Compact size:
L48cm x W35cm x H80cm
- Length of the
air-propane-powder mixture supply hoses: up to 9m.
- Machine supply:
compressed air (min. 6 bars) propane (in a bottle-2 bars).
- Air flow regulation.
- Powder regulation.
- Vibrator placed
on the hopper in order to make powder release from the hopper
walls easier.
- Service air gun.
- Belt mounted control
plate with easy fitting coupling-uncoupling facility for gun
change over.
|
 |
Accessories:
- High flow rate
applicator gun (larger-sized compared with the standard gun).
- Super heater,
particularly useful in case of coating of large-sized structures
or of thick metal items, in particular in association with the
high flow gun.
- Infrared pyrometer
to check the pre-heat temperature and to monitor the process
temperature.
|
 |
Coating
Speed:
- Standard gun: up to 10 sq. m per
hour at 200-250 microns.
- High Flow Applicator Gun: up to
24-30 sq. m per hour at 200-250 microns.
|
|
Powder Consumption:
- 1kg = 4 sq. m
at 250µ approx. (this data refers to the PolyHotCote®
Thermoplastic Powder).
|
|
Typical
uses and applications:
- Application on-site
on large structures hard to disassemble (restoration works, maintenance
and thermoplastic coating on uncoated items).
- Repair works,
at the factory or on-site, on items coated with thermoplastic
powders through traditional systems (Electrostatic or Fluidised
Bed).
- Application at
the factory on large structures, whose coating would require
too large an oven and/or tank.
|
|
Outstanding
properties:
- Environmentally-safe
and non-toxic.
- Excellent impact
and abrasion resistance thanks to its excellent elongation properties.
- Excellent adhesion (no primer
needed).
- Superb UV resistance.
- Easy repair and touch-up.
- Quick turnaround: the coating
can be applied in a single coat and is servicable in a few minutes.
- Good release: thermoplastic coating
powders have a "Slippery" surface, which allows materials
like snow, wet grass, salt and earth to easily release from coated
surfaces.
- Cathodic Protection and electric
insulation.
- Good chemical reisistance.
